Raiders coach Jon Gruden said Tuesday that the door is always open for Marshawn Lynch. He didn’t say how open, and it definitely closed a little bit Thursday when the team signed running back Isaiah Crowell as a likely starter.
The door definitely closed on Doug Martin, who led the Raiders with 723 rushing yards last season. We reported Tuesday that the 30-year-old free agent was asking for a significant pay raise, and Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock then had Crowell in for a visit on Thursday.
Crowell, 26, signed a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million. The Raiders also signed former Broncos linebacker Brandon Marshall to a one-year deal worth up to $4.1 million, league sources said.
