Why Tom Brady hasn't signed with Buccaneers yet - New York Post

Tom Brady’s new deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers still isn’t official.

Negotiations continued into Thursday, with the sides “still trying to finalize contract language as of Wednesday night,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

“Contract language [is] more challenging this off-season than any time in recent memory,” Schefter tweeted. “No problems forseen [sic] with Bucs-Brady, but no deal yet.”

With NFL facilities closed through at least March 31, physicals and other standard procedures have become more complicated than normal.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network also tweeted that an issue for the Bucs and Brady is that teams are restricted from sending a private plane to pick players up and take them to their facilities, “so getting a physical with a doctor everyone agrees on is tricky.” But ESPN’s Jeff Darlington reports that Brady will undergo a physical Thursday in New York.

In a league-wide memo sent earlier this week, the league informed teams that signings cannot be announced “pending a physical,” NFL Network reported. A finalized and league-approved contract is required before teams can make official announcements.

The three-time NFL MVP is expected to sign a deal worth roughly $30 million per season. The 42-year-old Brady played the first 20 seasons of his NFL career with New England, winning a record six Super Bowl titles.
