Three Georgetown men's basketball players are facing restraining orders, according to court records obtained by USA TODAY Sports, with one player accused of "sexual harassment and assault" and all three players accused of burglary.
A restraining order was filed by a fellow Georgetown student against Myron Gardner, Josh LeBlanc and Galen Alexander on Nov. 12, records show. In the criminal complaint, the defendant alleged "sexual harassment and assault" by Gardner that took place in the defendant's apartment on Sept. 15. According to the records, the defendant said her home was burglarized Sept. 16 by Gardner, LeBlanc and Alexander.
Another defendant — a roommate — had filed previous restraining orders against LeBlanc and Alexander on Nov. 5, according to court filings. In a criminal complaint also filed that day against LeBlanc, that defendant claimed, "In response to an alleged burglary that I believe Joshua LeBlanc committed against me on Sept. 16, 2019, Joshua threatened bodily harm against myself and my roommate. He continued to threaten me verbally and via text message in the following week."
The first filing also said the two roommates had filed multiple police reports with DC Metro Police and the campus police, which were being investigated as of last month. Neither LeBlanc nor Alexander appeared for their Nov. 14 court date, but they were eventually served the restraining orders.
"Georgetown takes student conduct issues very seriously and ensures that they are investigated thoroughly," the school said in a statement. "While we are not able to comment on specific cases, we have processes for investigating and adjudicating alleged violations for our student code that are fair to both parties. We encourage any student who has a concern to be in contact with the Georgetown University Police Department or the Office of Student Conduct."
A hearing for the second restraining order is scheduled for Dec. 9.
On Monday, Georgetown coach Patrick Ewing said in a written statement that LeBlanc and James Akinjo would not play on the team for the rest of the season. However, Akinjo's departure is basketball-related, according to The Athletic. Akinjo was not mentioned in any of the filings.
LeBlanc, a sophomore, started the last 22 games of 2018 and has averaged 7.2 points and 2.7 rebounds in six games this year. Alexander, a community college transfer, has scored 31 points in 80 total minutes this season. Gardner, a freshman from Detroit, has appeared in six games.
Akinjo was the 2018-19 Big East Freshman of the Year, averaging 13.4 points and 5.2 assists, while hitting on 39.1 percent of his 3-point attempts. He has averaged 13.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists in seven games this season.
